Recipient of Model Railroader's Readers Choice Award. |
| Yes, the Covered Bridge was a mainstay of rural America during the 1800s and early 1900s. Over 10,000 dotted the landscape, especially in the Northeast and Mid Atlantic States. Developed mainly for roadway applications, several were built for various railways throughout the United States. |
| This particular bridge incorporates the HEAVY TIMBER design characteristic of GARDEN-TEXTURE structures. The structural system uses a "Town Lattice Truss" based on the designs of the Connecticut bridge builder Ithiel Town who began designing covered bridges in the early 1800s. |
| The KIT (#41181) includes Drawings & Guidelines as well as precut Redwood & Cedar lumber & fasteners. A Wayward Cinder caused re-roofing operations now underway on the bridge photographed above. |
